Do you focus on impressions or clicks?

CPM and CPC are two types of advertising networks on the internet, while CPM pays the publishers per impression and CPC per click. I myself love using both or eCPM, if possible. In my opinion every blogger should focus more on impressions and other websites with a higher pages per visitor ratio should focus on clicks. What do you say?

I prefer clicks. I have yet to find a company that pays me as much per impression than my average per click. Even adsense doesn't come close, I think the only way to maximize earnings if you use CPM is to get direct ad slot sales.

I personally like CPM because if you put adverts for CPC, there aren't a lot of people who actually click on your adverts unless it's an accident. So it wouldn't be beneficial to your site. But if you have a high amount of traffic, CPM would be perfect, although it's very hard to find a good one, unless you can get into like Tribal Fusion network.

For me, I focus on impressions. I really wish I could go without having ads at all, so I don't try to shove them in my readers' faces. My current advertising networks are based on impressions, so I'm able to only pay attention to that side really.

Impressions here too, I like to make a good impression and not have someone trying to press my tummy while making a clicking sound :) Just kidding, I do focus on impressions because I am trying to bring more visitors and have them stay longer, I don't necessarily want them all to leave quickly or the bounce rate leads to fewer impressions.

But for getting paid, you earn more per click.

I'm for clicks too. the more impressions i get the more clicks as well. So what I strive hard is to get more traffic to my websites and if possible turn these visitors into users and that making them register is one of the objective. keeping them coming is the ultimate.

Both are important, especially if you are talking about them in terms of running a pay per click campaign to draw traffic to your site. Impressions are directly correlated with your Click Through Rate, which can either positively or negatively affect your quality scores and as a result either drive up or down the cost per click you will have to pay to maintain a given position.

It's pretty standard that paying by CPM means paying for branding and little traffic while paying by CPC means paying for actual traffic.

The big brands have traffic, they want branding, and so they tend to pay by the impression more often than not.

I like impressions here. I would not want make anything if they did not pay me per impression. I know I do not get enough traffic to my blog to think about counting clicks.

I've found that impressions are good for sites with a high volume of visitors but no viable way of advertising to earn through clicks. Humor sites and general sites, for instance, might run into this issue. My sites are very niche-specific, so there is never a lack of ads to be shown on them.

Impressions are meaningless if they do not convert to clicks. Clicks are meaningless if they do not convert to sales or whatever action you want them to take.

It doesn't matter how many thousands or millions impressions you get, all advertisers want the end result of a sale. In order to sale, there must be clicks first.

Not all views will click, and not all clicks will turn into action/sale.

It's simple as that.

Well with Google Adsense I tend to get a bit worried when my CTR is too high, so I try to balance them out and keep it below 2% at all times.

I prefer CPM over CPC because getting clicks on your ads is really difficult and a lot of people avoid adverts or use browser extensions that block the same. Whereas you can make a lot of money with CPM networks if you have a huge traffic. But CPM's pay lesser than CPC. I have been jumping from one CPM network to the other , haven't found a stable network for my site. :)

I focus on clicks/CPC. The impressions I get are always 10-20 cents per 1k visitors. I know that you can optimize it, and make it pay more, but I would rather write organic content, and good enough content for visitors to actually become interested and click on the ads presented on a certain page.

If you want to make serious money from impressions, your website needs to get millions of daily visitors.

For small websites, clicks are better.

I focus on CPC. I like clicks. There's nothing like opening up your AdSense account and seeing that you made $4 or $5 on just one click! Also, many people are not all that into social media which drives a lot of traffic earning impressions. I'll take the clicks. You don't have to be popular or get a ton of traffic to earn money with AdSense.

Tough one, clicks but quality clicks. It's all about getting your content to the right people and having them invest time in your site. Click with 100% bounce rate are never going to help your website.
