Minimum Message Length

Eradicate short, pointless posts with a minimum message length, improving content worth.

It's annoying isn't it? When users can't be bothered to ask a question properly or post silly responses like "thanks".

Well this addon solves that issue with options to set a minimum length of both characters or words. Not only that but these options can be set per usergroup permission, and/or by node permission.

A good example of usage would be to set the global permissions for registered users at lets say 30 words minimum, but we understand that an introduction or off topic section may not need to be as formal , so in the introduction/off topic node we can put a lower minimum value to override the default usergroup value.

Usage settings

These are the global options

• Groups and permissions - Select usergroup of choice - Minimum characters in a message (unlimited for no restriction; 0 to skip this group)
• Groups and permissions - Select usergroup of choice - Minimum words in a message (unlimited for no restriction; 0 to skip this group)

If you then wanted to override the the above options in specific nodes, you do so :

• Forums - Nodes - Select the permission button next to the node of your choice - Select user group to override - Minimum characters in a message (unlimited for no restriction; 0 to skip this group)
• Forums - Nodes - Select the permission button next to the node of your choice - Select user group to override - Minimum Words in a message (unlimited for no restriction; 0 to skip this group)
