Adult websile links question

Not too sure if this was asked anywhere on here but i have a question. So I have an adult related website, not porn, it's a sex shop, my question is: is it good or bad to have adult sites linking to me? Say likes of porn sites etc? Because from what I know it's not exactly advisable to have adult websites link to you, but this is a little different, or is it not?

Domain has been out there on and off for the past 17 years, used to belong to a client of a company I worked for in the past, so when I decided that I want to sell some of the adult stuff I figured it would be best to buy a domain that had similar stuff on it, now trying to do some link building for it, but it is proving to be not easy as people seem to be rather upset by an adult store, despite their websites being about lingerie and things.
