Advice needed - SEO

Hi guys,

I just discovered the forum while in need, searching, for advice regarding, potential, improvements on my website. Some thoughts started emerging, after I noticed very sharp loss of organic traffic since mid March - very likely, somehow, affected by the March 12th Google's core update.
It is quite frustrating to see this happening, especially after all the effort I invested over the years - being outranked by new websites, within the same niche, pumped up with very spamy baklinks (I did some homework).

One of the ideas that occurred in my mind was - Would it help if I simplify my website by removing pages such as Fine art photography and All the travel and street portfolios, leaving only the commercial work as my main keywords (of the home page) revolve around "London professional Portrait and Headshots photographer".

If yes, what will be the more practical way to utilize the removed content - on a separate domain or sub-domain (using the removed content).

Any suggestions and recommendations are welcomed.

Thanks,
Nikolay.

Hi Nikolay,

It's hard to advise properly without seeing the site and how its structured, would you mind posting the URL so we can see ?

In general the only time i recommend making a website more simple is if the content is thin, duplicated or there is a lack of focus and so many pages are competing for the same space ( this obviously only applies to individual situations )

I don't think there is a generic answer for what you are asking, so we'd need to be specific.

Sorry for not providing a link, initially I linked some of the relevant text in my post but wasn't allowed proceeding posting as I'm a new member.
Here is my website - mirchevphotography.com
By the way, before my boy was born and I became full time dad, I use to have Vide filming/editing and 3D on this website too, which at one point (in time, few years back, I was advised to take them down and concentrate only on photography.

Thanks,
Nikolay

content is the main part and if you are not building quality backlinks then definitely it affects rankings. Try to maintain quality content and try to build quality links

If it was my site, I would not remove the the portfolio pages as this can help people decide if they will book your service (conversion). I would just add the "no index" attribute on those pages and focus more on the optimisation of the homepage and service page.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
