I think Python. Since it's the first programming language you will learn, it will keep you distant from complexities like memory management, system calls, and other stuff you are likely to find in C/C++.

I would say C. It is one of the first languages, and it's still in use.
Also, when you get into the programming logic, the only difference is syntax.
