Hi guys,

New to the forum. I've been looking around the web for a clear answer to this but not finding much.

I've been trying to get Google Sitelinks to show for our business on the SERPs. I'm unsure which of the following site structures are correct for Wordpress and Google Sitelinks. I've always used the hierarchy on the left.

Any support on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy,

Are you referring to how pages are laid out within wordpress panel ? The most logical way would image 1, as having children of a page, unless you are stripping the category base would include the homepage name in the URL.

That said, none of that has any relation to Google Sitelinks. Sitelinks are picked by Google based on good site structure and authority of the internal pages, having direct top level navigational links to your most important inner pages etc will aid Google in understanding the hierarchy of your site along with other aspects such as internal linking and external links to said internal pages.

Ultimately, good on-site SEO and Technical SEO for a site will be your biggest asset, with user friendly navigational elements and linking will naturally earn those sitelinks for branded searches if the searches intent is there.

Nothing you do in regards to how Wordpress associates its parent and child pages will have any influence.
