Do you need region specific SEO?

Hi there

I recently joined an SMB software provider. They are headquartered in Germany, with another large office in the US - these are the two main hubs for the business. We sell software solutions globally and have a sales presence in most countries/regions.

The UK and Ireland is an emerging market for the business, and the marketing website reflects this. The website can be toggled in German, English, Spanish, French and Japanese. Note: the English website is American.

I see in our weekly BDR meeting that most of our leads in others regions are generated organically - Germany, France, US all do very well.

I have come to a realisation that perhaps the UK needs a region specific website, as we don’t rank organically for our keywords in the UK because the webpages are US based.

Is this a fair assumption to make? Would a simple cloning project of the US web pages make some head away? Do we need a UK/US toggle instead of just ‘English’? A complete redo of the website? We are driving small amounts of traffic via PPC, but are we missing a key piece? Is a US based website sufficient?

Some advice would be appreciated.
