Free Graphics Editing Tools

There are a lot of effective tools available for use by people wanting to edit graphics. The best kind are the free tools (at least in my opinion) as they do the job just as well as a paid tool.

What do you prefer to use - free/paid - and why do you feel this way?

I use free programs, they are powerful enough to serve my purposes and if I had to lose them somehow I could just go and download them again. My top 3 graphics editing choices are GIMP 2.6, Inkscape and Blender 3D 2.69.

I use GIMP. Dont know if there are any other design apps for free to run on Ubuntu. I might need them as I am not a designer primarily. So this makes things simpler for me at times
