Historic Redirects

Hi all

Odd one here
Recently noticed on SEM Rush and Webmasters that a lot of backlinks are being picked up from historic websites. ie
Website A, B and C were all amalgamated into website D
This is a lot of links
If you now go to Website A, B or C you're redirected to website D but Website A, B and C still show up as backlinks

Is this normal or does it look like the historic redirects were done wrong (long time ago).
If abnormal what's worth - lots of backlinks from incorrect redirects or fixing?

Hard to visualise what you mean, if A,B and C all 301 redirect ( use a redirect checker to see redirect codes etc ) to website D.

Then i assume those redirected sites are either blanket redirected to a certain page or homepage, or proper redirects are done on a like for like basis ?

If a site is 301 redirected to another site, it will of course redirect all old backlinks and history, that's ultimately the point of a 301 redirect ?
