Last year I added our business page to my personal FB account and chucked a few hundred quid into promoting it.

No sales but it did get seen by 1000’s and liked by 100’s

I stopped throwing money at it many months ago but this last two months I’ve seen quite a few sales coming via Facebook.

I rarely post stuff on their but I’m going to make some time to do that.
I’m also wondering if it’s a good idea to put more money into promotion now ? Or should I hold back and just see what happens naturally?

It's always a good idea to keep all of your social pages active, it helps gain brand trust, shows you are active and a business who's presence is respected. Typically facebook advertising has its ups and downs, it's currently not as good as it used to be, but that can be very niche dependant and obviously how you run your adds. I tend to recommend against "boost your post" adverts, page promotions seem to work better from a customer intent point of view.

You have to remember SEO will always be your prime source of potential customers, because the intent of the searcher is already there. They are looking for a product or service that you offer already, its just up to you to be prominent where they are searching. Social on the other hand, can be more impulsive and you can create connections with potential customers if they are subscribed/liked your page instead of just liking a post which they may forget about more frequently.

Well that's great. You have hundreds of likes on your Facebook page and your sale depends on your luck.
