I was wondering if somebody could shed some light on this for me. Imagine a client is selling skiing holidays in Austria, and his website domain is skiingholidaysaustria.com (just an example).
He ranks for "skiing holidays in Austria" but not for the general term, "skiing holidays". The entire product line is based around the variations of the "skiing" keyword. And his packages are long and short holidays, with long ones being also called "skiing holidays".
How would you try to rank for both terms? And what would be your URL structure?
My initial thought was to rank the homepage for "skiing holidays in Austria" and rank the page with long holidays for "skiing holidays". Thoughts? Currently they are ranking for the country specific term, but not at all for the general term.
And what about URL structure? Since all package titles (which could be viewed as categories) have either "skiing" or "holidays" in the name, something like this looks like keyword stuffing:
skiingholidaysaustria.com/skiing-holidays
skiingholidaysaustria.com/short-holidays
Yes, I'm a beginner at SEO, and this is really puzzling me. Use synonyms to avoid stuffing or just use the inviting URLs and hope not to be penalized?
