If have am selling a main product such as a new car

my thinking is that I'd therefore need to have a doorway landing page for new cars – so here my keywords might be new car, new car advice, new car website

Then I plan to have separate pages for each type of car thereafter - i.e small car, family car – and each of these would have a family of say 5 keywords

Then I could even have additional sub pages cascading down for makes of car under say the subgroup of small cars – ie fiat uno and this might have keywords associated with the different types of model for fiat unos etc

so I suppose my question is what should you recommend I consider so as not to ‘canabalise’ the value of the many pages i'd create - or should be careful how many I create anyway?

Hi @devdev I discussed your query with my senior Web Designer and he gave me following answer for your query:

Your objective - Selling a new CAR

Now, You should need a landing page which have complete information on that regarding your new product and in this, you need to include all your other pages links with separate partitions.

Let's say you created a landing page named as New Car then in this page you will create sections like in first one or two section you will mention about your new car and then in other sections, you can mention your other divisions like major verticals of new car and then you can add one more sections like taste of small cars and here you can mention your fiat or etc.

And yes your family of keywords first will spread in this new car landing page and then in other pages to which link you are providing here. and those keywords you need to mention in these separate leaf pages of which link you are adding in this landing page.

Regarding cannibalization, you need to understand that google had already declared some years ago that in SERP more than 2 links will not be visible. So you need to plan out what these 2 links will be and on what keywords you want to rank them so in this way you are getting direction of your task and you will easily plan out what to do.
