Question My best SEO post has no Yoast Meta description

My websites best ranking post on google has no yoast meta description or Focus keyphrase. Anyone know why? What is the point of Yoast?
I would love to know what gets this page such high ranking in google - what have I done? Uk search on google was "veterans + dogs"

Keyword focus is only a guide to help you achive what Yoast recommeneds to be optimal content structure .

Meta Descriptions according to Google havent been used as a ranking factor since 2009, that said a well tuned meta description has other beneifits, such as improving CTR, of which CTR's could potentially have a connection to improved positions.

There could be a wealth of reasons why your page ranks, well formed headings, good content, good backlinks, good domain authority, low competition keyword etc etc etc.
