Hello all - new to this and need your help.
We replaced a site on an existing a new name due to a slight change of content and new branding. There are 301 redirects set up on the old site pointing to the most relevant page on the new site, however, since swopping the sites across on the domain name we've seen a huge drop in ranking and traffic.
Can you help me as to why this is and how we can fix this?
Thanks
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

To many variables to really give advice here at the moment.

1. What was the old domain.
2. What was the new domain.
3. What were your primary traffic sources ? Google maps, Organic ?
4. Is the content entirely different ? Does new content follow the same rules niches and topics you previously ranked for.
5. Has the new website been audited to make sure there is no major problems ?

In order to preserve both your traffic and back-link quality from the old domain, it’s important to 301 redirect all of your individual URLs to the new domain. The simplest way to do this is via your site’s .htaccess file. after that go for sitemap and robot.txt file.
This solution may help you to increase your traffic.

Try to use 301 on all pages to new site and wait for some time. First you will loose rank but after some days your rank will return on same stage.

This happens only if the content of your website is duplicated or dummy. It is possible that the SEO of your website is not done properly bad quality backlinks may be created.
