Paid Software Activist and Do they have a point.

Now I see all these paid software activist/hackers around here and I was thinking "Are they right in some way I have not considered?" and I wanted to know what you guys think.

I prefer free or open source images and software when developing my website. I do not have a ton of money and I cannot afford vBulletin so naturally I would use a free forum software such as phpBB and not spend any money.
