Seo for ecommerce

Hello all,

Just need a bit of advice and clarification please. I sell sell some products and use keywords. The products are in a category. I also have a blog to try and drive traffic. In terms of a website map, how would I link these together? Would the blog generally link back to the category page? Or would the categories link to the blog? Or both link to one another? Are there any guides or tutorials that can take me through this with best practices to help assist in SERP?

Thank you in advance

You would typically write related posts on your blog, which link to the money pages. If in your instance its a category rather than product, then ensure you have enough content in that category so it can hold its own. Also be careful your target phrases for the blog post, ideally they need to be related, but not directly competing for the same phrase.

Site structure really matters when we talk of eCommerce SEO. Site structure is all about setting up your site navigation and architecture in a manner that the most relevant content is shown in front of the user.

The golden rules to a good site structure are:
  • It should be scalable and simple.
  • No page should take more than 3 clicks to reach another page.
To get the best out of your site structure you need to connect the most authoritative pages of your site to your product category pages. Writing related posts can help you in getting some good external and if you connect your product category pages will pass some link juice.

A good site structure will look like something in above. Your content page is connected to major category pages and to some of your potential products.
