Hello,
It is a great way to run your website if you have the time and interest to learn.
Is you website active?
Can you identify your core market?
Have you thought about key words and phrases that a searcher might use?
I would recommend that you read some 'SEO basics' type web pages or watch YouTube and Koozai TV videos. These will help you quickly pick up some of the basic SEO terminology and core SEO skills. Google offers some really good SEO tutorials too.
Regards
Neil

Hi @Smart Choc, I hope you're enjoying yourself on the forum.
So congratulations on starting with a new website :). So yes, @Elyman, has already acknowledged you with some basic stuff.

I would like to add some more generic points to it, like:

1. Always include product descriptions
These are bite-sized content that is not too long but can't be overlooked. Add a well-crafted and search engine friendly description to product pages.

2. Optimize Your Page Titles
The page titles should be clear for both the search engines and the searchers. Use focus keywords in your title but keep in mind that the title should be readable and not stuffed with keywords.

3. Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs are really helpful when it comes to making your pages navigable. It also helps the search engines understand how your site is structured.and appear in search results.

4. Site Navigation
Apart from breadcrumbs, there are ways to ensure that your visitors are not lost when they are interacting with your site. Keep your site navigation clean and simple to reduce your bounce rates and rank higher on SERPs.

5. Meta Descriptions
Meta descriptions do not play a direct role in your ranking but have a significant impact on improving clickthrough rates. It is a way to entice searchers on the SERPs to click. Google also uses meta descriptions to generate a search result snippets.

6. Add Alt Text To Images
Many people often overlook this part, but alt texts can definitely give you an SEO boost. Add keywords to your images (keeping the natural flow in mind) to make search engines understand what the image stands for. Check the below example:

7. Avoid Duplicate Content
You might have to seek duplicate content for the following cases:
  • Same content on multiple areas of your site.
  • Two or more sites with similar content.
Accordingly, you might have to either remove or redirect duplicate contents.

8. Use SEO-friendly theme
WordPress offers many themes and it could be very overwhelming to choose anyone. To take full advantage make sure you use a theme that is built for SEO.

Could I recommend the site neilpatel.com I have just created my own site with Wix and have found the straightforward help on this site incredibly useful as I've taught myself the dark arts of SEO. I have no connection with Neil Patel, by the way; this is just a friendly suggestion, based on my own experience as a bit of a 'noob'!

Search engine optimization takes time and money. If you’re short on time but have the money, an agency or consultant is an option. If you’re short on money, use these do-it-yourself tips to boost your site’s organic rankings.

Start by improving title tags, do keyword research, and produce regular content.

As you mentioned that you have your e-commerce site running on woo commerce. while doing my research I came across this https://www.incrementors.com/blog/advanced-ecommerce-seo-complete-guide/ comprehensive article on e-commerce SEO. which will help you to grasp basic and advanced concepts of SEO
