Someone is stealing my meta description

Hi all,
So I published an interview with Olympic gold medal winner Ester Ledecka, but it doesn't rank. At all. When I googled the keyword ester ledecka, I found that another url has my meta description and ranks above me. Or I should say, it ranks and I don't. Can I do anything about this? Thank you. Paul

Hi Paul,

So only your meta description and/or page title ? but your content is unique and not being used elswhere ?

A copied meta description won't give them any advantage from a content/page point of view, if its a great description then it could give them better click through rate. It certainly won't be making an impact of you not ranking for a phrase.

Agreed. It takes more than a meta description to rank above someone else and it wouldn't explain you not ranking at all. Plus, if you are not even indexed (as it seems from your post), where would they get the meta description from in the first place?

Meta descriptions help to increase user click through rate (CTR) . The keywords in the meta description may rank for som long term user search. But it will not have an effect on rankings.
Check your website, is it well optimized for search engines. Also, check it for SEO audits points.
You will definitely improve by improving your website optimization score.

Thanks all. The thing is, the page is indexed and all my other pages rank well. Search for the skier Tina Maze for example and I'm page 1 desktop, page 2 mobile. When I ask Google to index my Ester Ledecka page, I rank for a day or so, then vanish. The page is iceatrail[dot]com/ester-ledecka by the way. I'm so confused!

If the content is 100% similar on both sites and one of them ranks better, it simply means that the better ranking site is better quality. The meta description is not that relevant.

I post regular articles on my website and my blog. Same say 2 articles. 1000 words. The blog reaches the 1st page in 5 days. The website takes 2 weeks. I did all the seo work ever invented, no luck

Some websites are better

I had a window cleaning website build in wordpress. Amazing looking website, easy use, fast, etc. In 1 year i published 200 unique articles, hundreds of blog postings, ads, links, facebook, instagram, article posting. I could only reach page 2. Then the site got a virus and i hired a company from Romania to build another website for me with the same content. After the new site was published, it took 10 days to have 1 & 2nd position and i still have it today, 5 years later.

The quality of codding is essential

That's helpful, thank you. And I agree with everything you've said, but the one that ranks (it barely ranks but mine doesn't at all) is not really a site to speak of. You click it and it just takes you to a random serp with stuff not vauguely related to the keyword. They mention my site by name but not by url. And they mention the keyword I'm trying to rank for with 'bikini' after it, which I don't use. What I need is something whereby I can enter my page and it says "here is what is wrong with this page". But I don't know of any such tool that does that specifically. Does anybody else?

for ranking, you hve to post unique and informative content on your site and title and description are related on your post. ranking is not difficult you can do easily. just do sharing, posting and many other activities for traffic and ranking.

Yes I know that, lots of my articles are on page 1 and 2, but this one doesn't rank at all and I've no idea why this one should fail when all the others haven't
