Hi everyone,

First post so apologies if I'm not doing this properly.

I run a hobby website. Its all about how expats living in Thailand can get Thai citizenship. Its pretty niche, but that's okay.

Last year I wrote a long blog post on how to you can apply for Thai citizenship.

To my mind, its unique and goes okay and most of my pages rank fairly highly on google searches on the topic.

Anyway, last week I find that someone has ripped off my blog, word for word. The reason I found out is that when I did a search on the topic, the following site ranked higher than mine in some cases - even though it is newer, has ripped off my content. To be clear, their site has nothing to do with the topic of Thai citizenship, they just have one of my better articles there, word for word.

My question is, what have they done (if anything) to have achieved this, and what am I potentially doing wrong. As said, its a hobby site but I'd like to be the best one around. I know my content is the best, but clearly that isn't enough for google.

(Given I am a newbie here, I can't post links, which I totally understand, but if the mods would be so kind as to allow me to, that would be appreciated).

Many thanks in advance.

Hmmm, depending on where the other site is based, you might be able to send them a takedown notice. At the very least, you should contact them and tell them they are in violation of your copyright and that you want them to remove your post from their site. There's no guarantee they will comply but it's better than doing nothing.

Sorry that this happened, that's a reasonable suggestion if they don't take it down at least ask them to attribute your site as a source but prevention is better than cure, next time you write original content be sure to quickly share it on reputable web 2.0 sites like Facebook, pinterest, Twitter etc, that way it will be indexed much quicker that on your own blog.

thank you for you post. your backlink profile is pretty important. there's is probably better. use majestic to see the difference. or it could be they have higher metrics like DA, PA, TF, CF so you should run DAS Stacks. or use a GSA SER blast to "casino" their site, but NSEO is bad Karma for you. maybe new domain name, fresh start. big, better, helping more people. good luck.
