Hi all,

I’m new to the world of affiliate marketing, my day job is Freelance VA. Most recently I’ve leaned heavily towards travel logistics for corporate clients.

Long story short I decided to cash in on this by doing an online travel and tourism course and joining a personal travel agency. Alas, the agencies want huge franchise fees or have super strict rules and goals about how many new enquiries I take per week. All I wanted was to maximise my income from the circa £10k travel bookings I already make per month without any impact on my clients or the prices they pay already.

Option two was signing up for travel affiliate programs - I created a travel “portal” where I log in and run my usual comparisons, clicking through the affiliated link of the best travel option, be that hotel, flight, train etc... after a week of working in this way and finding it remarkably convenient and efficient as a method of booking complex journeys, I have made a total of $23.38... I’ve tried using a VPN, I’ve tried using a different laptop, but clearly I cannot use my own links to make the purchases for my clients in most instances.

The $23.38 is all from Expedia, at a EPC rate of £5.84 (x 4 sales). But I’ve made approximately £2000 bookings and the site (in this case, Vig Link) is only showing $500 sales (most likely all Expedia)

My application for Expedia is pending on Awin at the moment and then I’ll be moving over to them since the rate is much higher (6% compared to 1.2%),I’ve also registered on CJ, Partnerize, Trade Doubler, Travel Payouts, Booking.com, but I’m mostly waiting for approval by various merchants. Pleased to have secured Etihad this week, as well as lots of smaller airport parking and chauffeurs. But this could all be a waste of time if my links don’t track when I use them myself.

Anyway, well done if you’ve made it this far - has anyone had the same problem? Any advice to overcome it? I’m a sole trader for my VA business - not a limited company.

There a lot of solutions to promote such business but if you are just starting out with your new venture then it becomes a little difficult to spend huge money on the expensive marketing techniques. Well, I have been using sms marketing for my new business and still the results are super amazing with it.
