Ways to make money online which don't require referrals

I'm trying to earn some extra cash this summer by working online. However, I've noticed that a lot of websites which I've signed up for (e.g. Swagbucks, Neobux) rely heavily on you referring people in order to get a decent amount of cash. I don't like sending out referrals, as hardly anyone I send them to signs up as they just assume it's spam.

I'm currently using Postloop and Slicethepie, both of which have been ideal as they just involve me writing small amounts in order to get paid. That's the kind of thing I'm interested in. Has anyone got any suggestions of sites which operate in a similar way?

No sites which I need to pay for/invest in, please, as I can't afford this - I only have around $200 in my bank account and this is to cover my living costs for two months.

Everything needs patience and there isn't way to become millionaire overnight. As you said about neobux, you make surveys and offers using it that does not require referrals.

You should try out Bubblews.com. It's an article sharing website just like Hubpages and Squidoo but you get paid for every view, like, and comment you get on an article.

Try offering writing gigs on Fiverr or other related service sites.

Odesk.com and Elance.com would help you as well. You may want to check them out.

There are a lot of websites that you can earn money on without depending on referrals.

Try Fiverr, Bubblews, Slicethepie and survey sites.

I got rejected from Mturk... :( But I'll be sure to check out Beermoney!

I might check out Bubblews, as quite a few of you have suggested it and I've heard the name floating around elsewhere.

I would also suggest that you check out Amazons mechanical turk. It has thousands of freelance jobs that you can complete each and every day. By the way, I know you do not like depending on referrals to make money, but you can make serious cash by participating on Neobux! Now yes, this is going to take some time before you are able to cash out $50+ dollars a day, but it'll be seriously worth it in the long run. So if you happen to be interested and want to make money in it, there are tons of great guides online, that are free, and show you how to start making decent money with Neobux. :)

PTC sites like Neobux are hard to make good money on unless you have tons of referrals...And even then, it's very little money usually. I would suggest freelance writing where you can write articles for others, or just for websites like HubPages and get money that way. You don't need referrals or anything.

I'd highly suggest Bubblews. You get paid for every like, dislike, view and comment and you can write about whatever you'd like. You can connect with other users and build a good following to help support even further :)

Thanks guys. I signed up for Bubblews less than 24 hours ago and hae already made $3.65, and that was with posting less than 10 articles a day! I can see it being a nice little earner if I can keep this momentum up.

Yes, bubblews seems to be a good way to earn some money from blogging without having to make/market your own blog. Connecting with people whose posts you like so you can check them out later is a cool feature too. I think the key to success there is to build a good network of followers who actually like your posts so they check back.

Another service you might wanna check out (although for smartphones) is Locket, which replaces your screen-lock with a variant containing ads. Everytime you unlock your screen you get 0.01$ but i think it`s limited to 3 times per hour maximum to avoid fraud.

It seems like most online earning methods rely heavily on self-promotion. Whether you're accumulating referrals on pay-per-click sites or promoting your content on writing sites (or your own blog), promotion takes at least as much effort as generating the content or actually performing the required work to earn on your own.

That is the aspect of earning online that I've struggled with the most over the years. I am terrible at tooting my own horn. I don't like feeling like I'm bothering people with referral links or links to my blog or content hosted on per-page-view sites. I'm only now getting started with some social media self-promotion and gaining the confidence to reach out and share what I'm doing with my circle of online contacts as well as with friends and family offline. As much as I'd like to find some perfect way to make a living without sales, I'm coming to terms with the fact that sales are an important part of life outside of the work-a-day rat race and learning to face that challenge head-on instead of shying away and letting my content get buried.

That's exactly how I feel as well! However, since joining Bubblews I've been trying to publicise myself as much as possible in order to get views, although so far I've only used Twitter and I've been very apologetic after spamming Bubblews links. It has gained me followers though!

I keep hearing great things about Bubblews, I really need to sign up and give it a try. So far, I haven't really seen anything bad about it. Of course, I'm going to have to do a bit more research before I jump in...congrats at your earnings on Bubblews! I've never much tried to get referrals for different programs, I feel like I should be giving that more attention, too.

Be sure to read the redemption policies before you invest a lot of effort posting on Bubblews.

This statement: "For every comment you receive on every post you create, you get paid for. This payout will vary based on how much ad revenue Bubblews is pulling in." They will decide payment once they have enough profit. No matter how well you write, how many qualified views and comments your content generates, they can pay what they want, not what you expect.

I really need to work on embracing Twitter. It is the one major social networking site that I've been very slow to try, much less really learn how to use effectively.

I always feel like I'm annoying people with my publicity efforts. Such a stereotypical self-esteem thing, right? I've been reluctant to link my blog or writing to Facebook even, because I haven't developed that comfort level with self-promotion (not to mention promotion among people who really know me rather than just in the anonymity of the Internet!).

You can try content writing. That way you don't need referrals to earn money. There are many sites that will pay you upfront for your articles. Lately I've been hearing about iWriter a lot. There are some other sites that will let you earn passive income, some of these sites are Squidoo, Hubpages and Yahoo! Voices.

You can also try Postloop and PaidForumPosting.

I'd say your best bet would be to check into writing sites (not the revenue sharing kind but the upfront payment kind). I don't have a lot of experience with writing sites and a lot of people complain that the payment on a lot of them is too low but I think it depends on how long an article needs to be and how much research needs to be done. Even if the payment isn't that high you might be able to knock a bunch of articles out in a short amount of time so it might be worth it. You can usually find lists of these companies on google just by searching something like "upfront payment writing sites" or "content mill list".

There is a site called blogmutt.com that (last time I checked) pays about $8 for a blog post. Basically you write blog posts for companies that need content to put on their websites. I haven't used it myself but I've seen a lot of good reviews.

I hope you find something to help you out. Good luck. :)
