Website ranking advice

Hi there,
I have been doing the SEO on my website and am happy at the mo. I just wanted to ask , when I search one of my keywords my site home page comes up and only that page.
for example, Childrens Hip Hop classes brings up the main page not the Hip Hop page ( which has more keywords). When I see competitors it often shows multiple pages in the search so they are often ranking 3rd 4th and 5th for example.

If anyone could shed any light on this it would be great.

It could be a number of reasons such as

• Homepage is the most authoritative page and deemed most relevant
• You maybe over saturating the same keywords targets in various pages ( like the homepage ) and/or your ideal internal service page isnt strong enough.
• As above, incorrect usage of page title, headings, meta data, knowledge graphs and content on non-target pages.
• Poor internal linking
• Poor site structure
• Technical SEO issue

With your competitors showing more than one result in the top 10, could be that the pages being displayed are relevant and stronger than the competition pages thus being shown as the best results.

A good audit of your competition should give some good indications.

Thanks for your reply. I thought my SEO was pretty good. I have alt tags, header tags etc and main keywords on relevant pages. I have tried an online seo advisor and that said it’s all fine. I will keep trying. Website is DakodasDanceAcademy if your interested

I would say looking at the site, your biggest problem is that your service page doesn't have enough content when comparing it to the homepage especially :

https://www.dakodasdanceacademy.com
https://www.dakodasdanceacademy.com/hip-hop-street.html

I assume its the above pages you are talking about ( based on the keyword you've mentioned in the first post ? )

There is also no exact match of that phrase in your page title or headings which would help significantly once you've got much more content on the page.

That sounds like a plan. When the site was designed it was made a bit complicated. It has made it hard to do simple tasks like correct header h2 etc. I will add more content. Can I ask, we rank well for children’s dance classes but not for kids dance classes. How do you add both keywords without it looking stupid and using both? Thanks for all your advice.

Your content should include different Synonyms of your target phrases, it's a good technique prevent over usage of keywords within your page content, titles, headings etc.
