Question What's the best way of dealing with discontinued products and replacing with new?

Hi all,

Hoping for some help please. What's the best way of dealing with discontinued products and replacing with new? Options I'm thinking about are:

- Create a no-follow on discontinued product page, say in the copy that it's discontinued and add link to replacement/product category and then create new product page for replacement
- Change the URL of discontinued product, repopulate the product page with the new product info and then create a redirect linking old product page to new replacement product page
- Delete old product altogether and just create new

I'm mindful of trying to keep my site as clean as possible, so don't want loads of discontinued products on there, but if they serve me better SEO-wise, then happy to keep them.

I don't get a huge amount of traffic to my site yet as still relatively new (1.5years), so just want to set a strategy now so I can do it right moving forward.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Kris
