Why you shouldn’t use the Facebook ad library!

Ad intelligence tools in the market provide their users the ability to monitor their competitor's ad campaigns to see how and what are they doing on their ad campaigns. This includes which audience they are targeting on the basis of various parameters including region, Gender, target language, placement, and …

But most of these tools(they are sometimes called ad spy tools) are basically impractical since their source is stemmed directly from The Facebook ad library which has many limitations and deficiencies.

First, the queried fields are not filled in for all the results returned by the ads library. This basically means you have no access to any information about the ads funders. Until May 16th, 2019 the funders of the ads were given for only about 800 ads in a total of nearly 13000 ads displayed in France, which only amounts to 6%. This was improved to 60% in 2020 but still, the legitimacy is in question.

From a technical standpoint, due to incomplete documentation (either because the needed information was hard to locate or missing altogether),most requests to the API would lead to errors and difficulties. Frequent requests would also be problematic because results to a query to the API are paginated, requiring several requests to fetch all the results.

Aside from all the technicalities, the data is poorly integrated. A good amount of data that is created on a daily basis may not be stored and displayed right away on the Ad Library. Altogether the Ad library fails to update on a regular basis.

from a commercial perspective, this could be damaging, since you are trying to locate active ads and target audiences and users who are interacting with the ad.

Unfortunately, almost all ad intelligence tools have laid their business on the shaky grounds of the Facebook Ad library.

Adflex is currently the only tool that is independent of the Facebook Ad library and scrapes ads directly from Facebook Graph API itself. As immense as it sounds, it is practical and offers additional features including mobile placement, which was absent in previous tools.

Currently, they have launched their Facebook Tool, but soon they will cover ads from Instagram, yahoo!, TikTok, amazon, and native ads(Outbrain and Taboola). Also, they are offering all of their services for free including 1k searches per day and 50 times access to Ad details.

Ad details in Adflex are wholesome of many features that help better target any audience in any state available. Activation period, CTA type, Gender, Age range, Engagement graph, language, landing page preview, region, and placement are some of the free tools at your disposal,
