I wouldn’t judge a backlink only by DA or DR. Those metrics are useful for filtering prospects, but they don’t automatically make a link valuable.
For me, a good backlink has three things: relevance, real traffic, and the right audience.
For example, I’d rather get a contextual link from a smaller website that is highly relevant to my niche and sends interested visitors than a random high-DR website with no connection to my business.
I’d also check:
- Is the website publishing genuine, useful content?
- Does it receive organic traffic?
- Is the linking page relevant to my target page?
- Is the link placed naturally within the content?
- Can it potentially generate referral traffic, leads, or sales?
Most importantly, track the results. Look at referral traffic, keyword movement, leads, and conversions after acquiring links.
The most profitable backlink isn’t necessarily the one with the highest authority metric. It’s the one that improves visibility AND puts your business in front of the right people.
