How do you balance local SEO and PPC for financial services in the UK?

When running campaigns for competitive niches like bookkeeping services UK and outsourced accounting services UK, relying purely on organic search or immediate PPC can burn through budgets quickly if they aren't aligned.

Historical performance tracking via Google Keyword Planner plays a massive role in seeing which terms actually convert over time rather than just pulling traffic. For instance, looking closely at historical data for virtual bookkeeping services UK or outsourced payroll services UK helps weed out low-intent clicks.

How are you guys structuring your keyword strategies to balance long-term SEO visibility with immediate PPC acquisition? Would love to hear what's working for your campaigns.

For splitting budgets between SEO and PPC, I focus on commercial intent keywords first. I use xedea.com for their site audits and keyword research targeting conversions — it helped filter out low-intent terms in competitive niches like yours.

I'd run ppc for a month first just to see which terms actually convert, then put the seo effort into those. cheaper than guessing from keyword planner

I agree that testing PPC campaigns first can help identify which keywords bring actual leads rather than just traffic. I would also use location-specific keywords for local SEO, optimise Google Business Profiles, and create separate landing pages for services such as bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting.

Once PPC data shows which search terms generate quality enquiries, those keywords can become a priority for long-term SEO. I think combining conversion data from PPC with consistent local SEO efforts is a good way to reduce acquisition costs over time.

I would not split the budget by percentages at the start. Run a small paid test on a handful of service terms for a few weeks and track which ones actually produce enquiries, not just clicks. Then take the winners and build or improve a proper page for each one, with clear copy on who you help, the area you cover and what happens next. For financial services, trust signals matter a lot, so add real client reviews, team credentials and a plain explanation of how you work. Keep PPC running on the terms where you do not rank yet and pull spend back on the ones where organic starts to deliver. Review it monthly and move money toward whatever brings real calls.
