I've been out of the SEO Marketing game for a couple years now. I've been noticing now that I'm looking back into it and it seems a lot of things have changed. What's the best advice someone can give me regarding any new rules to the SEO game?

I don't know how many years have you been out of the game but I'll mention a few things I know First of all, do not buy services that will give you 'link wheels' or do not build any of these because they no longer work. Use the pyramid structure instead. Also, you have to diversify your links a lot more than before. I'd suggest to look on popular SEO forums' selling sections. There you will find SEO services, and they will usually mention what kind of link structure they are using. Look for the best selling services and simply mimic their link structure And also, social media signals are an important ranking factor now, so be sure you get some likes, tweets, G+1s, repins, etc. for your website.

High PR (Page Rank) Web 2.0 posts are used to pass along "link juice" but I believe that I read something about the Page Rank diminishing in value. I can try to dig up the article. Perhaps a search engine optimization veteran will speak up here as I must admit that I am still rather new.

Have good and quality content on your website. It is rewarded by Google now. No keywords stuffing or stuffed keywords in the URLs, it will attract Google penalty. Linking on page should appear natural, i.e., they should be relevant to the content and should be present when required by the content. Do not simply have the links without any relevancy to the flow of the content.

I believe it has been the same for the past years. Like Jean said, good, and organic content is what Google is looking for. You don't want to be pasting duplicate content on your blog or website, you don't want to spam your page with ads, just write for humans, and improve each day. SEO techniques like article submissions or forum posting are good ways to advertise your blog, along with some others like video marketing, social media networking, and a lot more. You have to research which one will work best for you, and which one will get the most traffic to your website.

I'd say one significant change would be the recent integration of Google Plus. I'm not sure as to how it works specifically, but I've read that it helps substantially with your site's visibility.
