Hi we have a new site going live soon. In the URL structure should you use & or an and?

Hi Ruth,

Ideally you should try and remove special characters and "stop" words from URLs to ensure it can be crawled properly.

Yes you can definitely use in plain URL paths like:

http://example.com/alex&charles

But as @Community has said you should avoid using stopping keywords in your URL.

Just been looking and noticed a couple of my links have stop words in them such as "about" and "a" so guessing I should maybe rename them to about-company-name and also book-repair

Then thinking to do a 301 redirect from the old url to the new one?

I see you've used a "-" in your domain which is also not a best practice in case of URLs. You can definitely try redirecting your URLs or you can leave them as it is and take care in future when creating new pages.
