Hire someone for Facebook?

Would you hire someone to manage your Facebook page? I know some companies that do? They hire a person who they think can write catchy statuses and such. This is not something that I would want to pay someone to do though.

I guess we (as business owners) should be able to do this ourselves, but in some cases you need someone doing this for you. Maybe you don't have the time or just hate doing this part. You just get someone that can do this often and you're set. This is an important part of keeping in touch with potential clients and existing ones, so, in the end, someone has to do it. Whether it's you or someone you hired, it needs to get done.

If I had a relatively big company, I would hire people to do this. I need to focus on much more important aspects of my business.

I would hire someone because I already have! :)

I hired someone to run my facebook because that is what he specializes in. He has alot more time then me to contact people that would be interested in joining our forum. After he talk to them about the forum, he asks them to join our Facebook page to keep in touch with us.

This sounds great. May I ask where you hired this person you are working with? I've been looking into doing the same, but I do not want to spend much, so I'd appreciate more details if you would care to provide them.

I don't see why not, if they are trust worthy and know what to do, then I would let them.

I guess this is a good option if you have more to do than you can handle yourself. It's just the normal way it goes when a company goes bigger. But you should choose wisely because a person you don't know can mess up everything you've created.

Yes, if I can find someone who can do that job good, why not? After all, if she/he can provide quality content, the fans will increase so that will make me more money.

If you're a big company you should because it is an highly specialized area and you should have a professional working on that area. This if you can afford it and if you expect to have some return over your investment in this professional.

There's a market for this in some places just based on overall attitudes towards technology. Many of the small-town small business owners I talk to aren't involved with Facebook or other social media and aren't comfortable with the Internet as a whole, so they hire someone who is to handle their online presence. Increasingly this is becoming an expected service of web designers or web content specialists.

I don't think it is any different from hiring out other writing/communication tasks... Just because a person can run a successful shop or restaurant or service doesn't mean that he or she can communicate effectively in the unique language/style of online media.

I wouldn't pay for them to manage my Facebook page, and think up statuses, I would take advantage of them. Just like on Twitter where some people buy tweets for a specific amount, I would buy statuses, which is very unlikely. It is much more preferred to tell them to think up a status, and include your link after it as opposed to giving your email and password to a complete stranger.

Large businesses and corporations will hire a sales specialist, or "people person" to do all their subtle marketing under the guise of injecting the brand into the community. You know when those brands respond to an individual after they make a tweet or post on their page? They are marketing tactics, very clever ones indeed. Some brands know how important it is to be prominent in social media now, because they are essentially turning into "product search engines", so they will often have an entire department dedicated to the endeavor.

If I was stretching myself thin on a niche I was making maybe tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands per month, then I would definitely invest some of that into someone who can adequately promote my blog or website. At that point, it literally takes money to make money.

I personally would not, but I don't think it would be a bad idea for others. I just have a problem trusting people with things, especially when it directly effects my money or traffic. I would rather just do it myself, or if I absolutely had to, then hire a family member, not somebody randomly online.

I have come across business owners asking for a complete social marketing deal. The offer was to write a Facebook post every day. That was not all. It also involved posting to Twitter twice a day and post images to Pinterest every day. The reasoning is to build up momentum with social marketing. They have nothing to lose. The provider is using a Facebook entity that does not put the business owner into any sort of risk. If a misfire does happen, another provider can be hired. So the technique works and is very much used in the IM world.

Well if I was starting a new business I wouldn't. It won't make much sense hiring a guy to do something that you can do yourself and then pay him for it. I think managing a Facebook page is easy especially since you can do it from almost anywhere and from anything ( except a potato )

I have found it is important to build a fan base before seeing results with social marketing. The intention is always the same. Get fans to interact, and the search engines reward me with ranking. Many webmasters adapt an initial thrust with paid posts until the right momentum is reached. However, I think author rank is important, and me being active on a social site is important.

I think though many people will say no need for hiring a facebook administrator there are numerous reasons that can force this to be. First, you should remember that managing a facebook page is not just a matter of logging in and slapping up a status update. How best you make your facebook page content and its Status Updates is relevant, timely, newsworthy and viral hence this requires enough time. And if you do not have this time? Are you to just keep your facebook page just for the sake of your company’s name? with much consideration you will find that there is a need for a facebook administrator under such conditions. However, your presence is essential hence, you need to be making frequent follow-ups to know what happens in your facebook page and how it happens.

I always wanted to do that job for businesses and I actually had a plan to do so but I am not sure how to execute it as yet. I believe if a company hire someone for Facebook it would be a part of a service not a complete service but if you throw in Facebook page management you can seal a deal quickly.

This isn't something I have ever thought about doing but I do know other people that do it. I don't think I could hire someone to look after mine, I am really fussy when it comes to my Facebook page, lol.

I don't hire people for that because that means you're trusting someone you don't know and your info could be screwed.

It would all depend on the circumstances in which people find themselves, both as far as their available time and the amount of income they're generating from the site(s) or business they are promoting. If they are social media savvy and enjoy updating their Facebook fan page(s) and interacting with fans, then by all means they should do so.

If it becomes too time consuming and/or they don't have the skills to engage effectively with social media -- and obviously Facebook in particular -- hiring someone is a great option. They would have to be very careful, however, as it's got to be someone who is reputable and can be trusted.

That's the crucial factor for me. It would have to be someone who is trustworthy and has high standards and is dedicated, and above all, does not do anything that's injurious. There have been reports of companies who have had people posting to social media on their behalf who have done so recklessly, and they wind up having to do a lot of damage control.

I would try to find such a person through referrals, first of all. If that's not possible, I would do a lot of due diligence before hiring someone. I would also give them a probationary period and monitor their activity and make sure they are posting in a way that best represents the brand/company or Web site.
