Your first online job?

This is a question to all the freelancers on here. What was your very first job as a freelancer?
Mine was rewriting a huge text of 14k words for which I only got $75

Well technically, mine was selling on Ebay. I would buy things cheap from yard sales or go through my closets and sell tons of clothes, books, etc.

As for writing, I wrote on a site called Gather that used to do revenue sharing for page views and made quite a bit of money.

My first freelance job was a collection of banners for a website. Made only $50 and took me about 4-5hrs trying to perfect them as It was my first job, plus I was still figuring on PhotoShop.

Lol my rewriting job took me about 12hrs to complete. I was still only 17 at that time though and was really excited about it

It's awesome that you were doing it at 17!

Even working on it for 12 hours, you were making more than $6 an hour. That's minimum wage now in some places and I don't know how long ago that was, so it might've been even better then. The fact that it's unlikely you paid taxes on it and you didn't have to drive to work, etc, makes that a pretty good payout.

eBay was the way I made my first money online. My very first "freelance" job was selling ebooks that I wrote. No, they weren't in the internet marketing or the make money online niche.

It's awesome that you were doing it at 17!

Even working on it for 12 hours, you were making more than $6 an hour. That's minimum wage now in some places and I don't know how long ago that was, so it might've been even better then. The fact that it's unlikely you paid taxes on it and you didn't have to drive to work, etc, makes that a pretty good payout.

It was 5 years ago. And yeah, it may not seem like much now, but back then it was a lot to me. My mom was worried I would get scammed till I went to Western Union and picked up the money

back then I didn't have a Paypal. Not by choice though, Paypal doesn't allow accounts from my country to receive money. So Western Union was my only option for my first payment. Then I used my aunt's account, and finally got my own using the back door

My first online job was building a way for engineers to better co-ordinate with technicians on the product line by creating a sort of real time message board. That was quite the challenge using Lotus code on the companies intranet but it was fun and worked well.

I've been coding since the AppleII and Vic20 were the rage, but that's before "online"

The first thing I did online to TRY and make money was set up a site selling CDs, it was very comical I just created a web page on a free host and used a free domain shortening service. Surprisingly nobody visited. Hahaha oop:

The first thing I did that I ACTUALLY got paid for was when I created and ran my own internet radio station called Tapp Out Radio IN 2003, it was the biggest 100% unsigned station in the world before I called it a day due to the amount of hacking attacks I suffered, plus it took up my entire life as it was a one-man operation.

Wow, I'm glad your radio show worked out for you before you had to take it off the air. Sounds like it was a pretty successful venture.

My first job online was with TextBroker. I was a ghost writer for their site. I never did make too much from the site. The most I ever made from them in one week was one fifty.

Despite the amount of time it took, and the amount of hacking that went on, I had a lot of fun running it and have thought about bringing it back a few times. Maybe I won't, maybe I'll see if there is an established station about that needs a helping hand.

^Good idea. It would be a shame to waste your talent.

I've worked as an on-air personality at my college's radio station as well and it was pretty difficult for me to get the hang of it. I personally know that I don't have the talent for it, but there are some people that do and you should take advantage of it .

I tested Freelancer a year ago. I managed to get a translation job which earned me 30$ and i was happy for it since it was only translating a hundred keywords. In my opinion it is hard to get jobs in Freelancing websites since there is an oversupply of workers and those Indian agencies are willing to work a much cheaper than I am.
