Question The "Fetch As Google" limit has been decreased - now what?

Since Google decreased the "Fetch As Google" limit to ten pages per day, we've been a bit stuck. We're publishing 20-30 content pages per day, targeting a huge range of search queries. Circa 40% of our traffic comes to us through these pages.

Since we're now heavily restricted on submitting these to Google, who's got other ideas to get the pages picked up quickly? I'm slightly concerned because although the pages link outwards to other areas of the website, no other areas of the site link to these pages. They're purely top-of-the-funnel.

We can't be the only people with this concern. How would you address it?

Indeed it is a handy little tool to get fast indexing of pages, although I suspect the limiting is because everyone is now using it as a submission tool when really it was only designed for diagnostic purposes.

According to Google Submitting or resubmitting a sitemap with the new URL's in it has the same speed and effectiveness as the "fetch as google bot" , whether thats true or accurate I couldn't possibly say as ive never tested to see if it works.

Likewise there is an actual URL submission page which you could try which isnt associated with any particular site in webmaster tools ( search console ) :

Before "fetch as google bot" came along, years ago we used to use tools such as pingomatic.com and inbuilt ping lists ( for CMS like Wordpress ) https://www.shoutmeloud.com/wordpress-ping-list.html

To ping lots of locations including Google for fast indexing, again this is still something we do, but whether it helps in todays environment isn't something we've measured ( as we do similar to you so haven't need to monitor other methods ).

Give some of those options and try and let us know which works best for you ( if any do )

That is fantastic, thank you. Exactly what I was hoping to find when I asked!

The Fetch as Google tool enables you to test how Google crawls or renders a URL on your site. You can use Fetch as Google to see whether Googlebot can access a page on your site, how it renders the page, and whether any page resources (such as images or scripts) are blocked to Googlebot.
